Days 243-244 – February 4-5, 2011 – Weekend Special, AKA a day in the life on Miss Cat and Miss Kat…

Number of days in Amsterdam – 243-244

Number of days without a bike theft – 239-240

Days since it last rained – 2

The weekend was deceptively sunny, still delivering subzero temperatures, and while we dealt with it the best that we could – kidnapping one of my imaginary friends from the grocery store to come over for a beer, homemade stew and boardgames with friends on Saturday, and a very brief walking tour for a friend passing through town on a layover as she headed back to Detroit that consisted of repeated pub stops to warm up), it was really to cold to spend much time outside.

This was the result of some frustration for Miss Cat and Miss Kat, who really wanted to play.

Miss Cat and Miss Kat Want To Play

“I want to go outside and play,” said Miss Kat.

“So do I,” said Miss Cat, “but it’s far too cold. It’s far too cold to go outside and play. Whatever shall we do?”

“We could play inside,” said Miss Kat.

So they did.

The end.

About Ryan

Ryan Cooper is a writer from Detroit who decided to trade in his car for a bicycle, his little bungalow for a fourth-story walkup, and his life in the Motor City for an existence in Amsterdam. Along the way, he quit his job, sold his belongings and, with a pregnant wife in tow, decided to see if the American dream wasn’t to be had somewhere overseas. His musings on music appear at punkmusic.about.com, and he has contributed to both fiction (Read By Dawn Volume III) and nonfiction (Punk Rock Saved My Ass) anthologies.
