Day 237 – January 29, 2012 – Kitten’s first date…

Number of days in Amsterdam – 237

Number of days without a bike theft – 233

Days since it last rained – 0 1

On a cold but clear morning in Amsterdam, the Kitten awoke in rare form.

After a long night where she had gone to bed at 12:45…

And again at 1:15…

And again at 2:25…

She awoke clear-eyed and smiling, practicing her new crib move that involves kicking the sea creatures that make up the mobile that’s too high for her to reach with her hands.

She seemed to be getting great joy out of this.

What had her so giddy?

She had a lunch date.

It was with her friend Max, the lovely younger boy she met under the mistletoe back in early December. Because she’s really to young to be dating, even if it’s just lunch, we went along. As did Max’s parents.

The Kitten must have been overwhelmed by the excitement that kept her awake the night before, as was Max, because they both slept through their date. Oh well, I’ll let them know the parents had a wonderful time. So much so that lunch lasted four hours.

And this is the part where I tell you about going to see the parade for the Chinese New Year, and show you amazing photos of the dragon parade.

Except it was really cold.

So cold that we all opted for a four-hour lunch instead.

Seriously, I go to Detroit and meet the winter weather – did it come back with me?

I mean, I know I had two more suitcases than I went out there with, did winter cram it’s way into one?

If so, that’s not cool.

For one, I was liking the mild Amsterdam weather.

For two, I had to pay extra for that luggage.

Not cool at all.

Very cold in fact.
